A year ago, I was just treading water in my life – a divorced forty-something woman – constantly tired, overwhelmed and stressed.

I wanted more out of life, but I had spent so much time making sure everyone around me had everything they needed, I didn't know how to take care of myself. I mean, really, truly give myself the time and attention that I had sought from other people.

I knew I needed to do something, but I didn't really know what. So, I began by making some changes – gradual at first. Small, simple things that I decided to do because I had finally realized that I was worthy

Worthy of the time. Worthy of the effort.

Those small things began to add up, build on each other, and people around me began to notice. I started to feel … happy. I almost didn’t recognize the emotion, I’m sorry to say.

Before Self Care

After Self Care

Six months later, I felt and looked completely different.

If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or ashamed of your body/appearance, then you’re in the right place.

I was (and still am) a single mom. My divorce was brutal, and in an effort to cope, I began to renovate my house. Imagining my spaces and planning them out, then making the ideas in my head come to life was absolutely critical to recover from my marriage ending and to focus on something positive and tangible. But, I was working, taking care of my son and renovating a house and living in chaos most of the time.

It took its toll.

I felt frumpy … overweight … old.

Like my life as a vital and vibrant woman was over. I literally came to a fork in the road where I truly considered just giving up, becoming a recluse and breeding dogs as a way to fill the void. Or, I could try again and put myself back out into the “real world” and see what life might have in store for me.

I’m not going to lie, it was close. Dogs are amazing givers of unconditional love, after all.

But I decided that since I could see how my efforts to renovate my house myself had paid off in spades – why couldn’t I do the same thing to my body, mind and spirit?

Plus, I could always adopt a dog … right?

So, I began to look inward, and ask myself – “what would make me happy today?”

And so my journey of self care began.

As I’m writing this, I literally have tears rolling down my cheeks, because I am so incredibly grateful for the strides I have made and the way my life is continuing to unfold.

My life keeps getting better and better.

All because I decided to put a little consistent effort into myself.

I began to feel monumentally better in my own skin. I felt more connected, more appreciative of myself and more empowered and able to handle the challenges of life without feeling completely derailed. My confidence soared, and I began to notice a really profound shift in how I saw myself and then, as a bonus, how people treated me.

Because I put the proverbial oxygen mask on myself first.

But it’s not always so easy. It’s not like flipping a switch and just deciding to believe it.

You have to feel it.

You have to know it.

For me, it started with taking a bath almost every night.

Sounds so small, right?

I love baths. Like, I really love them. Up until that point in my life, I would have considered that to be wasteful, luxurious, something indulgent that I was not “deserving” of.

But then I thought … why do I believe that? Baths take less water than showers. Plus, they feel good, they relax muscles, and they help us sleep better. They’re an opportunity to relax and get some “me time.” Who doesn’t deserve that?

Baths were a preliminary step and once I had successfully implemented that into my routine, I started building other things into my schedule, around my work, parenting and other responsibilities. Before I knew it, I had carved out more time than I realized. I now spend my days going from something I want to do, to some other thing I want to do.

I’m never going back to the way I used to be.

Now, if you’re a woman who wants more out of life, I can help you transform and build routines to help you live your best life without the stress of figuring it all out on your own.

I wrote an ebook I call the 12-week Self Care Reset to help other women follow an easy clear path to make some changes and live their best life. Each week, you add one new habit to your schedule (it’s totally flexible, so if you have room in your schedule and want to complete it faster, you absolutely can).

Here’s a rundown of the goals for each week:

Week 1: Boost your water intake

Week 2: Find a way of eating that nurtures both you and your soul

Week 3: Choose the way you want to move your body

Week 4: Prepare your beautiful canvas (grooming)

Week 5: Looking your best leads to feeling your best

Week 6: Find ways to connect with your higher self (mindfulness)

Week 7: Find ways to incorporate relaxation into your day/week

Week 8: Prioritize healing, nourishing sleep

Week 9: Create time for bonding with people you love

Week 10: Connect with your inner diva (your sexiness)

Week 11: Pick one thing (drawer, room, closet) and organize it

Week 12: Identify a creative outlet that brings you joy

And here's a sample (from the first chapter):

The great thing about printables is that you can rearrange these weeks to prioritize which aspects of self care you’d like to work on first. You are totally in the driver’s seat here.

Each chapter is 5-6 pages of beautifully laid out information to help you decide what’s right for YOU. There’s no set diet to follow or grooming plan. We’re all different, with different needs. I talk about what worked for me, but there are so many options that might work better for you, and my book helps you explore those.

This ebook is designed to help you discover what it is that YOU need. The last page of each chapter has an “Action Items” page to keep you on task.

I’m all about to-do lists and getting things done!

As a BONUS, I have also included a Self Care Assessment. Using this tool can help you pinpoint which area of self care you might like to focus on. In this way, you can prioritize which areas to focus on first to get the biggest impact.

All you have to do is click on the link below and follow the directions to the download page. Then download the PDFs, and print them out.

Each week, read a new chapter in the ebook, use or fill out the workbook as you progress, and complete the action items as you go. Simple.

For less than a month of Netflix, you can start working towards creating a life for yourself that truly makes you feel like the blessed being you are.

Here are some of the incredible benefits you'll be able to experience:

  • Incremental Progress: A gradual approach prevents overwhelm and allows you to build momentum slowly but steadily toward a comprehensive self-care routine.
    • Sustainable Habits: By giving yourself time to integrate each practice into your routine, you're more likely to stick with them over the long term.
    • Increased Self-Awareness: As you experiment with different aspects of self-care, you'll gain insight into which practices resonate most with you. This way, you identify your unique needs and preferences, so that you can tailor your self-care routine accordingly.
    • Balanced Approach: By addressing multiple aspects of your well-being (physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual), a balanced approach promotes holistic wellness and prevents neglect of any particular area.
    • Customized Routine: Prioritize the activities and strategies that are most meaningful and effective for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, you can tailor your routine to align with your individual preferences and lifestyle.
    • Resilience Building: Practicing self-care regularly helps build resilience by equipping you with coping strategies to manage stress, challenges, and adversity. As you gradually incorporate new self-care practices into your routine, you'll strengthen your ability to navigate life's ups and downs with greater ease.
    • Improved Well-Being: Consistently engaging in self-care activities can lead to noticeable improvements in your overall well-being. You may experience increased energy levels, reduced stress, enhanced mood, better sleep, and greater satisfaction with life.
    • Long-Term Behavior Change: Research suggests that it takes about 66 days, on average, to form a new habit. By committing to a 12-week period of gradually adding self-care practices in a structured way, you're laying the foundation for lasting behavior change beyond the initial timeframe when you might give up on, if you were on your own.
    • Self-Reflection and Growth: You'll have opportunities for self-reflection and personal growth. Pay attention to how each aspect of self-care impacts your life and adjust your routine as needed based on your experiences and insights.
    • Empowerment and Self-Advocacy: Taking proactive steps to prioritize self-care demonstrates a commitment to your own well-being and self-worth. By advocating for your needs and investing in your health and happiness, you empower yourself to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

If you're trying to decide whether or not to invest in yourself, the answer should always be yes.
